About
Fibro Splash |
Our
main goal is to share encouragement,
tips, joys and sorrows in our experience
with fibromyalgia, at times conversations
can go off-topic. Some of us have been
together on the group for so long we
are more like family and therefore share
personal experiences as well.
As
a new member you will be on moderated
status. All posts are moderated for
appropriateness, for such reasons as
preventing advertisements/spam and making
sure that content and language is appropriate
to a Christian group.
Because
we have a large number of active members,
you may want to choose the digest version
or use the no mail option (read on the
web) in order to limit the number of
emails you receive.
We
truly hope that your “stay” with us
encourages you in your daily walk with
Christ, that you receive the richness
of God’s love through His children,
and that you discover what the Lord’s
will and plan is for you in this new
phase of your journey.
A
Note from LeAnn, Fibro-Splash Coordinator
You
may be feeling like you're alone with
your pain and multiple other symptoms
and that no one UNDERSTANDS how fibromyalgia
affects every aspect of your life.
You may even feel like no one believes
that there is anything wrong with
you because you look like a normal,
healthy, person. If you need supportive,
caring, friends who DO UNDERSTAND
and BELIEVE that your sometimes odd
assortment of symptoms are real you
have come to the right place.
My
name is LeeAnn. I live in NC. I am
married and have 2 daughters, 1 stepdaughter,
and 1 stepson, all young married adults.
They each have one child, which gives
my husband and I four wonderful, precious,
grandchildren, three boys and one
girl. We are truly blessed!
I
suddenly developed fibromyalgia in
December of 1996 and was diagnosed
in February of 1997. Up to that point,
I had never even heard of fibromyalgia!
A few months later I was forced (by
fibromyalgia) to retire from my job
as an Advanced Composite Fabricator,
which involved manufacture and repair
of structural parts for military aircraft,
primarily the AV8B Harrier and CH46
Helicopters.
After
being diagnosed I started reading everything
I could get my hands on to learn more
about fibro and how to help myself,
I soon joined a newly formed on-line
support group called Fibrofriends, founded
by a lady named Kat who lives not far
from me in NC. As the group grew larger
I offered to help Kat with the group
and became a moderator in order to help
her to help others. Kat soon joined
Rest Ministries as coordinator of Splashes
of Joy, a group for women
and depression, who also have a chronic
illness.
As
Rest Ministries wished to expand their
outreach to those with fibromyalgia,
fibrofriends has moved over to Rest
Ministries, with a new name, Fibro
Splash! I look forward to continuing
on with this group and helping others
as we work together to make our lives
with fibromyalgia easier.
"A
merry heart doeth good like a medicine:
but a broken spirit drieth the bones
."
Proverbs 17:22
